The Wyoming Economic Analysis Division recently released its latest MACRO report, offering vital insights into the state’s economic landscape. One of the standout indicators? A notable shift in state revenue trends, particularly in sales and use tax collections.
Here are the highlights:
Statewide sales and use tax collections for the first nine months of fiscal year 2025 (July 2024 – March 2025) fell by $21.4 million, a 2.8% decrease compared to the same period in fiscal year 2024.
Platte County recorded the largest percentage drop, with collections down 17.2% year-over-year.
Campbell County saw the largest decrease in dollars, down $11.5 million compared to last year.
The mining sector continues to feel the pinch, with sales and use tax collections down $23.7 million or 24.6% from fiscal year 2024.
Severance tax collections are also down 9.0% year-to-date.
