Wyoming’s Economic Pulse: Key Takeaways from the Latest MACRO Report





The Wyoming Economic Analysis Division recently released its latest MACRO report, offering vital insights into the state’s economic landscape. One of the standout indicators? A notable shift in state revenue trends, particularly in sales and use tax collections.


Here are the highlights:

  • Statewide sales and use tax collections for the first nine months of fiscal year 2025 (July 2024 – March 2025) fell by $21.4 million, a 2.8% decrease compared to the same period in fiscal year 2024.

  • Platte County recorded the largest percentage drop, with collections down 17.2% year-over-year.

  • Campbell County saw the largest decrease in dollars, down $11.5 million compared to last year.

  • The mining sector continues to feel the pinch, with sales and use tax collections down $23.7 million or 24.6% from fiscal year 2024.

  • Severance tax collections are also down 9.0% year-to-date.
