Wyoming has a workforce problem. That's not new information — businesses across the state have been saying it for years. What the Wyoming Business Alliance wants to know now is: what else?

The Wyoming Business Alliance is back on the road with its second annual Voices of Business listening tour, visiting all 23 Wyoming counties between now and late August. The sessions are free, open to anyone, and built around a straightforward idea: the people running Wyoming's businesses know what Wyoming's businesses need. The job of the listening tour is to make sure that knowledge reaches the people writing the laws.

What They're Asking

The tour isn't a presentation — it's a conversation. WBA President Renny MacKay says last year's answer came through loud and clear.

"What we heard last year, more than anything, was they need workforce," MacKay said. "And so that really is a connection to our educational system, the community colleges to the university, and developing those pipelines of talent."

This year the WBA is asking three questions at every stop: What barriers are slowing growth in your community? What policies or resources would make the biggest impact? And what successes can others learn from?

The answers will shape WBA's advocacy priorities heading into the 2027 legislative session.

Who's Involved

The tour runs in partnership with the University of Wyoming College of Business and Wyoming's community colleges. Each stop includes county-specific economic data from UW, so businesses aren't just sharing what they're experiencing — they're also getting a clearer picture of what the numbers show in their own backyard. Cheyenne LEADS and Manufacturing Works are presenting partners.

Where They're Going

5 upcoming stops have registration open, with more counties still being added:

  • Natrona County — Casper College, Strausner Hall Room 217 | June 17, 12–1:30pm

  • Fremont County — Central Wyoming College | June 18, 12–1:30pm

  • Sweetwater County — Western Wyoming College | August 9, 12–1:30pm

  • Goshen County — Eastern Wyoming College | August 20, 12–1:30pm

  • Park County — Holiday Inn | August 26, 12–1:30pm

All sessions run noon to 1:30pm and are free and open to the public — no WBA membership required.

WY It Matters

Wyoming's workforce shortage doesn't fix itself. Young workers leave for states with more housing options, more job variety, and more amenities — and businesses across the state are left trying to fill the same positions year after year. Childcare gaps, housing costs, and a disconnect between education and employer needs compound the problem at every level.

These are exactly the kinds of challenges the Wyoming Chamber network hears from members regularly. That's why we're sharing this tour — because the more Wyoming business voices show up to sessions like these, the stronger the case becomes for the policies and resources our members actually need.

Showing up at a session is one of the most direct ways a Wyoming business owner can shape the policy environment they operate in. The sessions are free, the schedule is spread across the state, and more dates are still being added.
