Cheyenne’s Dyno Nobel Turns Industrial Waste Into Opportunity

ree

Dyno Nobel, a cornerstone of Wyoming’s mining and industrial landscape, is turning heads not with explosives, but with innovation. The Cheyenne-based company recently announced a partnership with Reliant Processing to capture CO2 waste from Dyno Nobel’s ammonia operations and transform it into liquid CO2 and dry ice for the food industry. This initiative will support everything from carbonated drinks to online-ordered steaks, seafood, and flowers, keeping perishable products fresh from warehouse to doorstep.

Reliant Processing will build a new facility at Dyno Nobel’s Cheyenne complex, creating at least 30 jobs and leveraging the area’s skilled workforce. The location, strategically positioned near major interstates and the Union Pacific railroad, ensures efficient regional distribution, while Dyno Nobel’s sustainability initiatives continue to advance, capturing CO2, recycling water, and producing diesel exhaust fluid.

“This is really good news,” said Dale Steenbergen, CEO of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. “It’s an example of ways CO2 can be modified and create local jobs.”

WY It Matters

This partnership is a game-changer for Wyoming’s business community. It demonstrates how industrial byproducts can be converted into profitable, high-demand products, opening new markets for local manufacturing and distribution. By creating jobs, expanding regional infrastructure, and fostering innovation, this project strengthens Cheyenne’s role as a manufacturing hub and showcases Wyoming as a state ready to embrace sustainable, forward-thinking business practices.

For local businesses, it means access to essential resources like dry ice and CO2 without relying on distant suppliers, while signaling to investors and entrepreneurs that Wyoming is fertile ground for creative, high-impact ventures.
