It’s no secret that retail stores across the country have been struggling to keep up with online retailers, but 2024 saw a massive spike in store closures; the largest since the pandemic. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like 2025 will be any better for businesses, with closures expected to surpass last year’s numbers by over 10,000. Many of these closures came from massive chain retailers, like Family Dollar, Party City, and Walgreens.
WY We Care: Several chains that are experiencing the largest volumes of store closures have branches in Wyoming. Aside from big-chain stores, many small businesses in our state are being forced to close their doors as well. Your Wyoming Chamber of Commerce has been working tirelessly in the legislature to fight for policies that make it easier not just for existing businesses to keep their doors open, but for new businesses to be able to open up as well. We will continue to fight for our businesses across the state, and keep you in the know with our efforts.
