Make a Big Difference for Small Businesses

It’s almost that special time of year again - and that means spreading holiday cheer! With the holiday season fast approaching, there’s no better time than today to start shopping for your loved ones, and Wyoming is the place to do it. With retailers ranging from home goods stores to boutiques across the state, you have everything you need right in your state.

WY We Care: Your Wyoming Chamber is a strong supporter of the Shop Local movement, and the holiday season is a great time to participate. Each year on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, (November 30 this year) Small Business Saturday is celebrated nationwide. Started in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a great way to support your friends and neighbors that own their own business, put money back into Wyoming’s economy, and show your appreciation for small businesses.

By the numbers: Still not convinced to stay close to home for your holiday shopping needs? Here are some stats that might convince you to change your mind:

  • 52% of consumers say they purchase from small businesses to find unique gifts or offerings that can't be found at big retailers

  • American Express will donate $1 for every purchase made on an American Express Card at a qualifying U.S. small business on Small Business Saturday. Donations will go to support small businesses impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton

  • There are 73,330 small businesses across Wyoming, which accounts for 98.9 percent of Wyoming businesses. Chances are, you’ll be able to find one near you that suits your shopping needs.

  • There are 133,159 small business employees in Wyoming, which makes up 64.6 percent of Wyoming employees. There’s a good chance that at least one of your friends, neighbors, or family members works at a small business. Show them some love and support this Small Business Saturday!
