The U.S. Chamber’s latest Empowering Small Business report reveals that nearly 60% of small businesses now use AI, up from 40% in 2024, highlighting record adoption rates. The report also introduces the first-ever analysis of cryptocurrency and stablecoin use by small businesses, along with a state-by-state breakdown of technology trends.
Key findings include:
96% of small business owners plan to adopt emerging technologies, including AI and cryptocurrencies.
77% of AI users say restrictions would hurt growth, operations, and profitability.
82% of small businesses using AI increased their workforce over the past year.
Interest in cryptocurrency and stablecoins is rising, with 7 in 10 small businesses exploring adoption.
The report notes growing concern that a patchwork of state AI and privacy laws could limit innovation. Jordan Crenshaw, SVP of the Chamber’s Technology Engagement Center, stresses the need for a unified national framework to help small businesses thrive.
