The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce applauds the bipartisan reintroduction of the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act, led by Representative Smucker and a bipartisan group of cosponsors.
This legislation, praised by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, marks a significant step toward addressing the nation’s ongoing labor shortage by creating a new H-2C visa category for essential, nonagricultural sectors. The bill ensures opportunities for qualified U.S. workers remain protected while helping employers access the talent they need to maintain and grow their operations.
The Wyoming Chamber joins the U.S. Chamber in commending Representatives Smucker and all cosponsors for their leadership and their commitment to advancing policies that strengthen both security and workforce capacity across the United States.
WY It Matters: Wyoming’s economic strength depends on access to a reliable and skilled workforce, particularly in industries like construction, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy, where labor shortages have slowed projects and strained operations.
By expanding access to essential workers, the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act would help Wyoming employers fill critical roles, support local business growth, and ensure that key industries can continue to meet demand.
