Wyoming Revenue Committee Declines to Advance Gaming Tax Bill

ree

The Wyoming House Revenue Committee ended a recent meeting by deciding not to advance a proposed bill that would have doubled the tax on online sports betting from 10% to 20%. The decision followed discussion and input from industry representatives expressing concerns about the potential impact of the increase.

During the session, Committee members also reviewed two additional gaming-related proposals — one raising taxes on skill-based games from 20% to 25%, and another adjusting fees for historic horse racing parlors. Both proposals were left unheard and are unlikely to be considered further this session.

The committee’s decision underscores the careful consideration lawmakers are giving to regulatory and tax policy for Wyoming’s gaming and entertainment sectors. For businesses in these industries, the outcome maintains the current tax structure while lawmakers consider future proposals.
